Chamonix The Greywacke Pinotage
Pinotage
Franschhoek
2014
Chamonix Wine Farm once formed part of the historic Huguenot Estate, La Cotte, which dates back to 1688. Today, Chamonix is known for its wonderful setting in the Franschhoek valley, with a wine tasting facility ‘The Blacksmith’s Cottage’ tucked into the mountainside.
Tasting Notes: Greywacke Pinotage has a deep garnet red colour with tinges of dark violet when young. Aromas of wild berries, spice and cherries on the nose. On the palate, the wine shows full body and rich dark chocolate, with fruit flavours balanced elegantly by tannins in a long finish that reveals a sweetness reminiscent of liquorice.
