Launched for the first time in South Africa this year, the Bold Woman Award<\/em> by Veuve Clicquot<\/em>, serves to bring greater inclusion, impact and more visibility to today and tomorrow\u2019s role models \u2013 the women in business who are redefining success, pushing boundaries and inspiring others to follow suit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year marks both the 50th year of the award\u2019s history and the inaugural year that entries have been open to South African businesswomen<\/a>. As part of the Bold by Veuve Clicquot<\/em> programme, six South African female business leaders have been selected among 250 visionaries who entered the award for their courage, tenacity and boldness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

About the Bold Woman Award<\/h3>\n

In 1805, Madame Clicquot, took the reins of the House<\/em> after the death of her husband, at a time when women did not have the right to work or even hold a bank account. Over the years, she revolutionized the sector. To mark its 200th anniversary, Veuve Clicquot<\/em> decided to pay tribute to this great, daring woman, and in 1972 created the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award<\/em> (Bold Woman Award), followed by the Cl\u00e9mentine Award<\/em> (Bold Future Award) in 2014.<\/p>\n

For nearly 50 years, the House<\/em> has honored and featured women who have built, taken on or developed a business \u2013 to date, 410 women across 27 countries.<\/p>\n

The esteemed Bold Woman Award recognises and honours the women entrepreneurs of today.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In response to society\u2019s evolution since 1972, starting in 2019 the award has been part of an international program: Bold by Veuve Clicquot<\/em>, a series of initiatives to generate conversations around the world, designed for more impact and inclusiveness.<\/p>\n

Today’s Female Leaders<\/h3>\n

At a time when two-thirds (61%) of the population agree that it’s more difficult for women to become entrepreneurs than it is for men, cited in the House\u2019s<\/em> very own global barometer study, Veuve Clicquot<\/em> dares to write a different story and seeks\u00a0to understand\u00a0how\u00a0the world\u00a0is\u00a0evolving to make a real contribution to female entrepreneurship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Given the struggles of the past few years, women in business stand to benefit more than ever from support during their journey and none have answered this call quite like the 250-year-old champagne house whose mission it is to embolden generations of audacious female leaders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bold Woman Award Finalists: SA Edition<\/b><\/h3>\n

Indeed, women are inspired by male entrepreneurs but much more by female entrepreneurs (64% inspired by male vs. 88% female in SA) according to the barometer study. This makes the first edition of the Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman Award<\/em> in South Africa even more significant, in its quest to inspire a generation of formidable women who create employment and drive transformation in the country and beyond.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These women are founders or CEOs of a business which has been in operation for more than 3 years, who have demonstrated transformation and evolution in their field, supported growth for at least two years and maintained an ethical approach to business.<\/p>\n
