A vast tract of sunflowers is in full bloom near Stables at Vergelegen,\u00a0 and their menu offers all-things sunflower. Visitors can be spotted snapping selfies in picturesque sunflower fields, while others buy bouquets of sunflowers to brighten their homes \u2014 a true sunflower celebration.<\/p>\n

‘Vergelegen is blooming amazing.’<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“We first sowed a large packet of sunflower seeds last year, to brighten up the garden area at the entrance to the new arboretum. We were overwhelmed by the response, people travelled long distances to take selfies in the sunflowers and we sold hundreds of flowers. This inspired us to take it to the next level and to organise a proper sunflower celebration this year.” says MD Wayne Coetzer.<\/p>\n

The Stables restaurant is decorated with freshly-cut flowers \u2014 even the life-size wooden horse at the entrance sports a sunflower mane and waitrons don, “Vergelegen is blooming amazing” branded shirts.<\/p>\n

\u00a0A TASTE OF SUNSHINE: STABLES AT VERGELEGEN<\/h4>\n

When you visit Vergelegen you won’t just be taking sunflowers home \u2014you’ll get to taste them too. “We’ve incorporated sunflowers and their seeds into several dishes, and it’s the visual effect of the petals that makes an impact”, says Stables sous chef, Roger Hindley<\/p>\n

The menu includes scones, served with sunflower petal jam and a silky smear of sunflower-seed butter; farm pears poached in Vergelegen Chardonnay served with blue cheese and toasted sunflower seeds; free-range chicken breast with a sunflower and cumin crust; sunflower petal ice cream; and beautiful sunflower-decorated cupcakes.<\/p>\n

It’s all sunshine and good times at Vergelegen \u2014 you don’t want to miss this sunflower celebration.<\/p>\n
