RECIPE: PEANUT BUTTER & JAM JAFFLES<\/h3>\n

\"peanut<\/a>Camping means cosy huddles around the campfire while enjoying all manner of sweet treats and warm, hearty meals. Seeing that we\u2019ve recently celebrated Heritage Day, we thought we\u2019d share this scrumptious South African classic, with a sweet twist.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve never had a jaffle, this is your time to try one out. It\u2019s basically a toasted bread pocket cooked over the fire, stuffed with anything from curried mince to banana and nutella. We\u2019ve chosen to stuff ours with another classic combo \u2014 peanut butter and jam<\/a>. This is delicious as a sweet breakfast, or unorthodox dessert (try it with a scoop of ice cream!)<\/p>\n

\"Leatherman\u00aeYou\u2019ll Need:<\/h4>\n

1 loaf of good quality farm-style white bread, sliced
\n350 g butter, softened
\n1 x 400 g jar crunchy peanut butter
\n1 x 400 g tin strawberry jam
\n2 jaffle irons
\nicing sugar for dusting (optional)<\/p>\n

Lay the bread slices out and make sure that each one has a partner. Generously butter both sides of the bread. Add a generous layer of peanut butter followed by a generous layer of strawberry jam to one side of each sandwich. Close up the sarmies and get ready to toast.<\/p>\n

Place 2 sarmies into the jaffle irons, then close and secure them. Trim off the excess bread (tip: use your Leatherman\u00ae FREE\u2122 K4X for this job). Toast the jaffles for a few minutes per side over medium heat coals. You can pop them open every now and then to check the progress. When they are evenly golden brown, remove from the jaffle iron and place onto a board. Load the jaffle irons with the next sarmies. Repeat until you\u2019ve toasted all of the jaffles.<\/p>\n

To serve, slice the jaffles in half, dust lightly with icing sugar and serve. (Note: be careful when tucking in, the interior jam gets very hot).<\/p>\n
