Don&#8217;t worry you&#8217;re not alone. Unlike other sparkling wines, it is a little lighter in alcohol and a great aperitif in the form of an Aperol Spritz.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Crush: So it\u2019s like Italian Champagne?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Ed:<\/strong> Not quite, <a href=\"https:\/\/test10.co.za\/C\/well-know-bubbly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Champagne<\/a> is produced in Champagne only, Cava in Spain, MCC in South Africa \u2013 and Prosecco in Italy. The difference is that all the other sparkling wines go through a second fermentation in the bottle, whereas Prosecco makes use of the Charmat method; meaning that the second fermentation (the one that makes the bubbles) occurs in stainless steel tanks.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Crush:<\/strong> What\u2019s the deal with DOC and DOCG?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Ed:<\/strong> It\u2019s an appellation, meaning that it refers to the area where the Prosecco is produced and the area reveals the quality.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prosecco DOC vines are found exclusively in north-east Italy, in Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, between the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Prosecco DOCG began and is tied to Conegliano Valdobbiadene, a hilly area in North-East Italy, 50 km from Venice and around 100 from the Dolomites. In this small area, people have grown the grapes that produce Prosecco Superiore. The area covers 15 communes and represents the heart of the world of Prosecco.
