The idea for Beesblaas was to create a gin that perfectly complemented the Afrikaans palate. This was the inspiration behind the coriander seed undertone in the flavour profile of Beesblaas.

The name ‘Beesblaas’ is an ode to the playful and humorous nature of Afrikaans culture with a focus on farm life.

It plays on the lighthearted nature of Afrikaans culture, with the name itself originating around the braai over a few laughs and couple of gins.

Beesblaas Tasting notes & Serving Suggestions

Beesblaas is carefully distilled using a copper still located at the Halewood distillery plant in Benoni, Gauteng. Derick Coetzee, the Beesblaas gin distiller, developed the winning Beesblaas Gin recipe with coriander seed, an integral ingredient in one of South Africa’s best-loved snacks – biltong. Together with coriander, a range of botanicals are used in the distillation process such as Juniper berries, Angelica root, liquorice root, orange peel, lemon peel, Cassia bark and Orris root.

It boasts classic dry and citrus flavours in combination with a delightfully distinctive coriander seed undertone and is best enjoyed with a slice of orange and orange zest over ice, accompanied by any premium Indian tonic water.

Beesblaas Branding

In keeping with their unique take on craft gin, the Beesblaas brand wanted a distinctive design for both their bottle shape and 100% Afrikaans label. The look and feel combines juniper tones, clean linework, gold foil and a spot gloss finishes to tie their unique look together.

Together with the gin, the Beesblaas brand will include a range of stylish printed stemless glasses with some quirky Afrikaans sayings.

Keep an eye out for the Beesblaas Gin gift box, the perfect Christmas gift for any gin connoisseur.

halewood.co.za | Facebook

Beesblaas, biltong and braais.
