Arriving in Franschhoek after two hours in Friday afternoon traffic from Cape Town had my partner and feeling harassed and disgruntled. However, just moments after being welcomed into Macaron Boutique Guest House all those feelings immediately dissipated. The property\u2019s beautiful gardens, bathed in an Instagram filter-like evening light, provided a welcoming refuge.<\/p>\n

A Home away from Home at Macaron Boutique Guest House<\/h4>\n

Macaron Boutique Guest House is located in the heart of the village, just a short walk from the main road. Low walls enclose a centralised, multi-level garden with meticulous hedges and a stunning pool shaded by a 100- year old camphor tree. The central courtyard area leads off to nine rooms that surround the central area, each with its own private entrance, giving it a homely, comfortable feel.<\/p>\n

Our room in the restored Victorian house was beautifully decorated with modern finishes; white screed flooring that gives a super fresh feel, a large walk-in shower, dual basins and a fluffy King size bed that we were ready to dive into. The d\u00e9cor is considered and contemporary with everything you need for a comfy stay.<\/p>\n

Centralised Location<\/h4>\n

Given that we\u2019d been fighting traffic all the way, we were keen to grab some dinner and what we loved is that we could simply close our room and pop up the road to the nearby microbrewery and taco bar – Tuk Tuk<\/a>. It felt as though we were coming and going from our own home. No high walls behind barbed wire, just a feeling of being really immersed in the village.<\/p>\n

When we returned to our room later that evening we helped ourselves to coffee in the room and rusks from the sweetie bar counter located in the central courtyard of the hotel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Time for Reflection<\/h4>\n

We awoke the following day to the most beautiful and clear morning, with the promise of unseasonably warm weather for the day. Before we sat down for breakfast we took a quick stroll through the gardens to take advantage of the light and snap a few pics.<\/p>\n

The grounds of the boutique hotel were really showing off – the glass-like pools act like horizontal mirrors reflecting everything above them and the effect was quite mesmerising.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Breakfast can be served indoors or outdoors around the pool weather-dependant. The lovely team of staff started us off with cappuccinos monogrammed with the Macaron M. We helped ourselves to a lovely continental spread including freshly baked breads and local cheeses and perfectly crispy croissants. We then ordered a hot breakfast and enjoyed delicious eggs, bacon and seasonal avo.<\/p>\n

Guests at Macaron are made to feel exceptionally welcome by Nadia, Mama and the rest of the team. Whether you\u2019re planning to lie by the pool under the lemon tree to read a novel or head out on foot to catch the wine tram, the team can assist in making that happen.<\/p>\n
