Chef Proprietor at La Colombe, Scot Kirton,<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has announced an exciting new move for the restaurant \u2013 current Head Chef, James Gaag<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is appointed as Executive Chef.<\/p>\n

James Gaag is Appointed as Executive Chef<\/h4>\n

\u201cJames has headed up the La Colombe kitchen for the past 4 years, and at the young age of 29, has proved himself to be one of the leading innovative chefs in South Africa. He has lead the committed team in the kitchen faultlessly, and we are delighted to appoint him in this prestigious role,\u201d says Scot.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Kirton will be acutely involved along every step of the way, as La Colombe<\/a><\/strong> has some exciting renovation plans on the immediate horizon. He will be working daily with the chefs from La Colombe, Foxcroft<\/a><\/strong> and La Petite Colombe<\/strong><\/a>, and remain hands-on in the kitchens, to ensure the standards that the world-class La Colombe Group is renowned for.<\/p>\n

La Colombe will be closing for 6 weeks for a major revamp on the 28th<\/sup> May. There is much anticipation, as long-standing ex-La Colombe Sous Chef, Jess van Dyk, will be returning to La Colombe as Head Chef, with Keegan Brathewaite stepping in as the Sous Chef.<\/p>\n

James Gaag comments, \u201cIt is fantastic to finally realise my dream of running La Colombe. Taking over the reigns is something I have aspired to for the past 8 years. I\u2019m extremely excited for this new and exciting chapter, and the challenges which lie ahead.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When it comes to food, James believes that a balance of flavour comes first. Food needs to be immediately delicious and inviting, not overthought, overworked or overcomplicated. Flavour is paramount and key to making great food and also running a great kitchen.<\/p>\n
