What would breakfast or braai be without it?<\/p>\n<h4>Chakalaka<\/h4>\n<p>While we\u2019re on the subject of pap, you simply can\u2019t have it without <a href=\"https:\/\/test10.co.za\/C\/recipe\/chakalaka-mozzarella-skillet-melt\/\">chakalaka<\/a>. The fiery relish is a necessity on top of pap.<\/p>\n<h4>Peri Peri Sauce<\/h4>\n<p>Some people make theirs, some buy it ready-made. No matter how you get your fix, peri-peri sauce is right up there with tomato sauce in the pantry-staple department.<\/p>\n<h4>Aromat<\/h4>\n<p>Good for you? Debatable. Delicious? Absolutely! We\u2019ve upgraded from simply sprinkling the \u2018general purpose\u2019 seasoning over eggs to using it as popcorn flavouring. We\u2019re all partial to a <a href=\"https:\/\/test10.co.za\/C\/springbokkies-to-witblits-unique-south-african-drinks\/\">Brandy &amp; Coke<\/a>, even if we\u2019ll never admit it.<\/p>\n<h4>Ultra Mel Custard<\/h4>\n<p>It\u2019s like they boxed up the flavour of childhood happiness.<\/p>\n<h4>Koo Apricot Jam<\/h4>\n<p>This tastes so good, even grannies all over the country passed this off as their own.<\/p>\n<h4>Biltong<\/h4>\n<p>Probably <em>the<\/em> quintessential South African food, if ever there was one. While it is, of course, a drink, our list of South African pantry staples would not be complete without it. As an adult, it\u2019s a weekend hangover cure also known as a &#8216;green ambulance.&#8217;<\/p>\n<h4>Samp<\/h4>\n<p>The chunky, comforting, anytime dish always has a place in our pantry.
