You may be thrown by the name of these evenings, fear not, in this instance 3G does not refer to your internet accessibility, but to the rather more fun, Grapes, Gourmet and Gallery. Held at the beautiful Harvey\u2019s Restaurant at the Winchester Mansions, this is a chance to savour and learn about a specific farms wine offering, enjoy the wines paired with a menu prepared by the kitchen to complement, while you admire artworks from local artists.<\/p>\n

On the evening we attended the featured wines were provided by Landskroon<\/a><\/strong> and the art by the enigma that is Mr Damage<\/a>,<\/strong> presented by the CAAM Gallery<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We started the evening with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc on arrival. We then moved on to our table where we started off with a blue cheese salad dressed in\u00a0the most delicious berry dressing and paired with the Chardonnay. We followed that with the Chenin Blanc which was paired with the a Thai fish cake and homemade peach chutney, picking up on tones of white peach in the wine. We also sampled the Landskroon Paul de Villiers Shiraz\u00a0paired with a roasted lamb dish, the perfect accompaniment to stand up to this rich meat. For dessert a pistachio nut baklava which was crispy and just yum. We also sampled the\u00a0Landskroon Cape Vintage Port-style wine.<\/p>\n

In between courses we enjoyed snippets of information from Landskroon’s winemaker\u00a0Michiel du Toit<\/span>, Food and Beverage Manager of the hotel, Niall Bruyns, who MC\u2019s these evenings, and then a representative of CAAM gallery, which brings all three offerings together.<\/p>\n

All in all this is a great way to spend a Friday evening and is a lot of fun when enjoyed in a group. The wine flows abundantly and so will the conversation. Of course being that Harvey\u2019s is a part of the Winchester Mansions Hotel, you can opt to not drive afterwards, but instead stay over and wake up on the Sea Point strip instead.<\/p>\n

There are several more 3G evenings coming up in the next few months – first Friday of every month specifically. Each will feature different wines, art and menu, so book your seat now before they are sold out.<\/p>\n
