FoodBank SA collects edible surplus food from manufacturers and retailers, and redistributes this food to hundreds of verified NPOs that collectively feed thousands of hungry people daily. FoodBank SA is also a proud member of the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN).\u00a0\u201cIn 2014 we raised enough funds to ensure that an extra 354 people had access to a meal for a full year! Help us reach even more people this year\u201d \u2013 Kate Hamilton, Fund Development Manager, FoodBank SA.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Foodbank rescued 3,800,000 kilograms of food last year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">They assist 350 verified NPOs across the country that feed 91,000 people daily.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">The average cost per meal is only R1.19, a cost-effective solution to the problem of hunger.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">FoodBank SA is asking people to commit to a 12 hour fast to raise awareness around the issue of hunger on 28th May 2015, World Hunger Day.
