This year\u2019s Parklife Gourmet Food and Music Festival celebrates the best things in life: great vibes, out-of-the-box culinary experiences, and of course, awesome people.<\/p>\n
The Festival, presented by 94.7 and MTV, takes place in Cape Town<\/strong> on Saturday 2 May<\/strong>\u00a0at Green Point Cricket Oval<\/strong> and at Marks Park,<\/strong> Emmarentia<\/strong>, on Sunday 3 May<\/strong>. As always, it promises to be\u00a0the gastronomic and entertainment event\u00a0of the year, bringing food lovers, friends, families and indie rockers together for one great day under the African sun.<\/p>\n The music line-up this year features international alt-rock outfit American Authors, critically acclaimed French producer and DJ Klingande, Prime Circle, prolific performer KAHN from The Parlotones and Jeremy Loops, as the first acts to be announced.<\/p>\n Food fundies will salivate at the opportunity to explore the vast gourmet food village offering the most exciting tastes from many of the country\u2019s best local food markets. Between 12 and 15 ‘underground’ pop-up restaurants, known for their intrigue, exclusivity and unpredictability, will be at the festival serving up delicious dishes..\u00a0Chefs will be showcasing their talent, experimenting with the menu, pushing boundaries and letting their inner creative run wild. Food lovers can expect the unexpected. From\u00a0a\u00a0vetkoek cafe that will have your ouma’s tongue wagging, to a Prego station, Greek\u00a0Souvlaki stall, gourmet wraps and burgers prepared and served like you’ve never seen, or tasted, before. Bring a picnic blanket along and enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch on the commons. There are also a number of stalls offering their wares including your favourite band merchandise from T-shirts and caps to other paraphernalia.<\/p>\n “Every year we strive to make the Festival more accessible to our guests<\/em>,” says founder\u00a0Damon Forbes, who, along with Kevin Stuart, came up with the concept of the Festival back in 2012.\u00a0The venues chosen for both the Cape Town and Joburg events\u00a0are able to accommodate ticket holders with access to safe parking inside their grounds. This means Festival goers will be closer to the actual stage and festival area.<\/em>”<\/p>\n “It’s really all about having a great day out. Kids, teens, moms, dads, families, party goers, music lovers – everyone’s invited<\/em>,” adds Forbes. “When it comes to the line-up, you can expect really well known acts and crowd pleasers. We love to bring new bands out and give them a platform and when you have three stages to play with, you can give the artists more opportunity. We have two dedicated rock and indie type stages, as well as a deep house and electro stage – a Festival first – with some interesting bands that we’re really excited about<\/em>.”<\/p>\n Doors open at 10h00 until 20h00.<\/p>\n
