Step back in time at A<\/span>nthonij Rupert Wyne<\/span><\/h4>\n

While there are many things to see and do on the estate, the Anthonij Rupert Tasting Room<\/a> located in the historic manor house has a unique quality. Built around 1833, its mid-19th century style is reflected in each detail from the original architecture, down to the artworks and d\u00e9cor touches. Enjoy a wine tasting of the flagship Anthonij Rupert wine collection comprising seven reds. If you are interested in how wine ages, try the vintage flight tasting, which allows you to sample a specific wine and its progression as it has matured. While you are there, take a wander through the kitchen herb garden or the historic rose garden \u2013 both abundant in colour and scent. If it tickles your fancy, book for an elegant high tea, which is served on the verandah overlooking the stunning gardens and is accompanied by a glass of chilled estate MCC. Akkerdal Wine Estate \u2013 Terroir Wines<\/h4>\n

If you are a serious wine drinker, with an appreciation for unique varietals, then you must find a spot on your itinerary to stop at Akkerdal Wine Estate. The tasting room overlooks the beautiful vineyards and has an intimate space to taste Akkerdal Wine estate\u2019s eight limited edition wines, which when combined, have received a staggering number of accolades. The focus at Akkerdal Wine Estate is on understanding terroir \u2013 as hands-on owner and winemaker\u00a0Pieter Hanekomwill tell you, \u201cWine is made 80% in the vineyard and 20% in the cellar\u201d. Pieter has crafted each of these wines, and their accompanying stories, and sometimes unusual names, and given each a personal touch. Don\u2019t miss out on tasting the unusual blend Akkerdal TDT \u2013 a blend of Tempranillo, Durif and Tannat. This blend of Spanish and French cultivars is quite distinctive in South Africa. Also try the Wild Boar, a blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Roobernet, Tempranillo and Merlot. It has flavours of wild fynbos spices, with understones of chocolate. Stay in the self-catering accommodation which overlooks the vineyards and enjoy an incredible sunset with a glass of wine and a barbeque. When visiting Akkerdal Wine Estate make sure that you give the four-legged assistant winemakers a scratch behind the ears.
